Making the Impossible Possible

and he said, “This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water. For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink.  This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands. You will overthrow every fortified city and every major town. You will cut down every good tree, stop up all the springs, and ruin every good field with stones.”  –2 Kings 3:16-19

How many times in life do we look at the situation we are in and say, “I don’t know how this is going to work out”?  Our eyes see every closed door, dead-end path and missed opportunity and we can’t imagine how God is going to get us out of this one.  I love what the Lord has to say to the kings in this passage.  God essentially makes three important points:

1)      You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water.  In other words, your eyes will see nothing that would indicate water is coming, but water will happen anyway!  Even though you won’t see a way for your answer to come, it will come anyway and your need will be met.

2)      This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD.  It may look absolutely impossible to you, but it’s easy for Me!  Miracles aren’t difficult for me, they are easy.  I am more than capable of meeting your need in a miraculous way, such that there is no question I am the one who made it happen!  You, and those around you, will have no doubt it was Me!

3)      You will overthrow every fortified city and every major town.  Because I’m the One who takes care of you, you will be successful in the task you are called to do.  Not only can I make water appear out of nothing, but I can guarantee your success in an endeavor if it’s what I’ve ordained you to do.  I will not send you out to do something and allow you to fail.  Trust that I will help you make it happen!

It’s so funny how easy it is for us to forget how powerful and capable God really is.  We sometimes make God small, but He is actually limitless in so many ways: in power, love, grace, mercy, provision, favor and wisdom, just to name a few.  If our human mind was capable of really grasping that, we would have no problem resting in His hands through every situation.  Praise God for His ability and eagerness to show us how big He really is!  He can and will make a way where there doesn’t seem to be one.  He makes the impossible, possible!  Praise God!
