Great Expectations

Surely the righteous will never be shaken;

they will be remembered forever.

They will have no fear of bad news;

their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;

in the end they will look in triumph on their foes. --Psalm 112:6-8

It's a brand new year, following what has been, for many of us, one of the most challenging and strange years in our lifetime. We have faced numerous natural disasters, a pandemic, social unrest and violence. We even faced murder hornets! Yet even through the difficulties and the unknowns of 2020, God has been close to us, showing His faithfulness even in the midst of these challenges.

As I prayed about what God would have me write for this post, what came to me was His faithfulness. I believe God wants us to fully trust in His ability and desire to be faithful to us, even through suffering. I believe He wants us to go into 2021 expecting to see more of His faithfulness and goodness, not fearing more bad news. We can take comfort in knowing He will be faithful to stay close to us if we do face more challenges in 2021, but let's also expect God to do positive things! Let's expect breakthrough. Let's expect surprises. Let's expect blessings. Let's expect healing. God has all that for us! Let's go into 2021 anticipating His goodness, excited to see what God has in store.
