There is still a vision for the appointed time; it testifies to the end; it does not deceive. If it delays, wait for it; for it is surely coming; it will not be late. –Habbakuk 2:3 (CEB)
A common tactic used by thieves who work in pairs or teams is distraction. Once inside the store they have targeted, one person or group creates a ruckus or otherwise gets the attention of staff. While the store employee is distracted, the other half of the thieving team swipes whatever loot they are after, and staff is none the wiser until it is too late.
The enemy works in much the same way. When life is chaotic, as our world is right now, we can easily become distracted by the latest crisis and lose focus on the things God has called us to. We can get so comfortable either surviving the crisis or watching it from the sidelines that we neglect the vision God put on our hearts for our life. Right now, it may seem that vision cannot come to pass because the world is too scrambled. Maybe you’ve been so closely following the news that whatever action you were taking towards your calling has been set aside. Know that no matter how the world around us looks, God’s plan for your life hasn’t changed. He still calls you to do what He created you for. He still intends to use that calling to further His Kingdom.
Notice the CEB (Common English Bible) version of this verse includes the word still. Even if it seems too much time has passed, it’s been too long since you even thought about it or way too long since you actually did something about it, the calling on your life remains. It remains for a specific time and place. Don’t let whatever chaos the enemy stirs up distract you from what God is still calling you to.
